Verb followed by a noun group

The verbs in this category can be followed by a noun group gloss.gif (923 bytes) which represents the thing which is loved, tolerated, admired, etc:

From the existing elevated walkway, visitors can admire the garden and the harbour view. (SCMP 30/5/94)

Here is a list of common verbs which can be followed by a noun or a noun group:

A small number of verbs, eg like, prefer, hate, can be followed by a noun group plus adjective:

I like my coffee black.
