Using will to predict the future

Within the broad category of prediction, three related uses can be identified. The first, future predictive, is very common, indicating strong likelihood bordering on certainty. Such predictions frequently occur in the main clause with if clauses:

It will be a miracle if we escape now. It will be hard to get out of the second division next season. (Bank of English)

Luxury car makers Jaguar will be forced to axe more than 700 workers this week after fewer than 100 volunteered for redundancy. (Bank of English)
