Using linking verbs

Linking verbs like be, seem, look, become, symbolise and represent are used to link a noun with a complementgloss.gif (923 bytes). The complement is normally either another noun, an adjective or a prepositional phrasegloss.gif (923 bytes):

But now the rains had stopped and the lack of water became a problem.
