Verbs always followed by the bare infinitive

Verbs such as make can only be followed by the bare infinitive when used in active voice :

Ali drew a red handkerchief from an inside pocket and made it disappear. (Microconcord Corpus A)

There is a very small number of verbs which can only be followed by the bare infinitive:

have let make

Note that these verbs are normally used transitively gloss.gif (923 bytes) when used with the bare infinitive.
