Adverbs of manner: Try it out!

These activities are provided for your own practice. They are not intended for use with your students, but you might like to develop your own activities using these as a model.

We can use adverbs of manner to give the reader an idea of how someone said something, particularly in stories. In the following text, see if you can fill in the blanks by clicking on an appropriate adverb and dragging into the gap next to the reporting verb.

Of course in a real story we wouldn't use so many manner adverbs, but this will give you some practice. There are no really wrong answers, but some will be more appropriate than others.
