Using the present simple in subordinate clauses
The present simple tense is common in subordinate clauses after words like when and if to
refer to the future:
If it rains during your week at the Lone Mountain, you'll probably be offered an outing to Bozeman. (Bank of English)
The Mass Transit Railway Corporation expects to generate $700 million fare revenue from the Chek Lap Kok railway when it opens in 1997. (SCMP 15/7/92)
