Introduction

Passive voice gloss.gif (923 bytes) is common in experiment reports wherever the focus is on what is done to the materials rather than how the materials act or react.

Passive voice is particularly common in the METHOD or PROCEDURE, where the focus is not normally on the person who performs various operations but on the materials that are subject to these operations.
