Problems with have

Have is often used incorrectly by students after there to represent existence or location. A form of the verb be should be used:

If there have no electricity supply, a lot of things cannot work.

Some students use have in the present continuous to indicate possession. When it has this meaning, have can occur only in the present simple tense:

People put too much emphasis on their appearance these days. They want to change their appearances so that they are more beautiful, especially ladies. All of them want to be a beauty who is having a high nose, big eyes, a slim figure and full breasts. (TeleNex Students)
